Our Mission
Ocotillo Learning Alliance (OLA) provides efficient, affordable vision and hearing screenings for students and schools across the Phoenix Metro Area. Run by retired K-12 educators with nearly 200 years of combined experience, our team ensures a comfortable student experience while minimizing classroom disruptions.
About Us
Service Model
We pride ourselves in delivering high-quality, efficient screenings designed specifically for school-aged children. Our screenings are thorough and mindful of instructional time.
Experienced Certified Teachers
What sets us apart is our team of screeners. We are former educators with decades of experience teaching children from preschool through high school. Because we are former educators, we understanding the importance of minimizing disruption of instructional time.
All of our screeners hold current IVP fingerprint clearance cards, aligning our mission with that of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Flexible Scheduling
We collaborate with each school site to determine the most suitable times for both the initial screens and follow up rescreens.
Screening Location
The owner of Ocotillo Learning Alliance, Darren Ridge, prioritizes visiting each school site in advance to assess the best locations for screening. By finding the optimal space, this reduces environment distractions which can impact the screening.
Equipment
We use reliable vision and hearing screenings tools such as the pure tone audiometers and Snellen eye chart. Vision and hearing screening forms are provided.
